National Eisteddfod Academy Adjudicators’ Forum

CALL FOR ADJUDICATORS

The National Eisteddfod Academy is calling for applications from the best adjudicators (established and aspiring ones with great potential) in classical & contemporary music, dance and drama to join the NEA Adjudicator’s Forum for 2010.

Ongoing and new activities of the NEA Adjudicator’s Forum will involve the following:

·        adjudication at various Eisteddfod events (including the annual NEA Eisteddfod and NEA Young Performer Awards),

·        skills development of teachers at previously disadvantaged and other schools,

·        training and mentoring of new adjudicators,

·        raising of the overall standard of adjudication in the arts and

·        maintaining the NEA Code of Conduct for Adjudicators .

Adjudicating a performance, assessing the relative worth of a performance and providing constructive feedback is the real moment of truth that defines the legitimacy and developmental value of the Eisteddfod programme.  The challenge is then to provide each participant with the most reliable, constructive and authentic feedback on his performance that can be provided within the constraints of time, budget and human resources.

 This requirement qualifies the need for adjudicators that are:

  §       Qualified in the respective art forms.

§       Reliable, available and prepared to adjudicate.

§       Educators at heart that embraces the NEA values of:

o       Passion and Compassion

o       Integrity and credibility

o       Inclusiveness

o       Respect for the unique disposition and potential of each participant

o       Awareness and pride of our multi-cultural diversity.

In order to achieve above-mentioned goals, all participating adjudicators will be invited to the annual Training Workshop for Adjudicators. More details will be communicated with the relevant individuals who are available for adjudication in 2010.
