NEA YOUNG PERFORMERS AWARDS 2010
The NATIONAL EISTEDDFOD ACADEMY is calling for entries from the best young performers of 2009 to enter for the 2010 NEA Young Performer Awards competition.
Scholarships and cash prizes will be awarded on 15 May 2009 @ the UJ ARTS CENTRE to top achievers in the various categories. This includes cash prizes to the value of R30,000.
Rules
Only diploma level candidates in the NEA Eisteddfod of 2009 (or similar achievements in other events) may enter this Battle of the Best (excluding all areas of unprepared work).
Events will be scheduled at the ProMusica Theatre (Main Theatre (dance) and Basement Theatre (music and drama).
A panel of adjudicators will adjudicate all events and their decision is final.
No changes in the schedule will be allowed.
The list of item(s) for which you may enter according to our records has been provided below. Kindly refer to the attached entry form for the appropriate Award Categories. Grades refer to the relevant school grade as in 2009
It is recommended that the same work as prepared and performed in 2009 should be presented.
ENTRY FEE: R200.00 per entry (1 – 5 participants)* ENTRY FEE LARGER GROUPS: R300.00 (6 participants and more)* CLOSING DATE FOR ENTRIES: 13 February 2010* LATE ENTRIES: 15 – 21 February: Double fee* *Proof of payment to be submitted with the entry before closing date. |
The NEA Awards Process:
First and Second Round: 2 – 19 March:
A panel of adjudicators will adjudicate all entries at the ProMusica Theatre. A limited number of participants will be selected daily during each session (15:00 – 18:30) to participate in the Second Round / Quarter Final round on the same day at 19:30. At the end of this session the Adjudicators will announce the names of the best 3 – 5 performers.
Important: please note that the final invitations to the Semi-final events can only be distributed after the completion of the first 2 rounds on 19 March. These invitations will be forwarded to the cell number or e-mail address as provided on the entry form. It is therefore important to ensure that this section of the entry form is completed with great care.
Semi-Final Round: 22 – 25 March:
The Panel of Adjudicators will nominate candidates in music dance and drama for possible inclusion in the Final event
Final event: 15 May 2010:
The NEA Office will compile a final list of 15 – 20 candidates based on the Adjudicators’ recommendations. These candidates will be invited during April 2010 to compete in the final event on 15 May 2010 at the UJ Arts Centre.
