The NEA is breaking new ground!

The NEA has published all the prescribed poetry in 11 official languages in the NEA Anthology, Vol. 1.

This unique publication formed part of the NEA's 10th anniversary celebrations.

A unique feature of this Anthology is that it provides graded examples of poetry in English & Afrikaans, all indigenous languages as well as

poems suitable for choral verse speaking in all 11 languages.

As the NEA is doing away with the traditional (artificial) division between dramatised and undramatised poetry,

it also distinguishes between the various poetry genres, e.g. the narrative, lyric, ballade, ode and sonnet

Examples of Prescibed Poetry Required?

The NEA regrets that copies of prescribed poems will no longer be published on the web page as that would result in an infringement of the Law regarding  Copyrights.

Participants are advised to obtain a copy of the unique NEA Anthology Vol. 1 that provides graded examples of the various poetry categories catering for all age groups from Gr. R to Open section.  Should you have access to a collection of anthologies and only require details regarding the prescribed poems for a specific category and grade (title, author, publisher), kindly contact the NEA office for more information.

Kindly note that the NEA staff do not have permission to fax a copy of any poem to you.
